Food, shopping, plants, rose gardens, heaps of things for the kids to do and world class entertainment.
It is the icing on the cake, the feather in the cap: the Roses on the Bay Market Day truly is the grand finale of the Timaru Festival of Roses.
Every year thousands of people descend on Caroline Bay for this feast for the senses. Colour and interesting sights, music, enticing aromas, delicious tastes and a festive, friendly atmosphere.
What makes the Market Day so special is its blend of ever popular favourites and new, exciting and innovative additions.
This year we are joining forces with the South Canterbury International Festival. We'll be welcoming members of the South Canterbury International Community into the new area named the Global Village, where we will showcase international food arts and cultures. The big Soundshell stage will feature a world of live music and performing arts. The day will kick off with the Parade of Nations.
Stall holders vie for a gorgeous trophy awarded to the Best Dressed Stall. With 120 stalls competition is as fierce as ever for this award. There are always fresh arrivals, a choice new plant or an original gift idea.
Plants are always in plentiful supply as are crafts from all over New Zealand and beyond, along with gourmet food and garden accessories - from outdoor art to furniture.
Entry to the Market Day is free and you can also visit the exceptional Festival exhibitions in the Caroline Bay Hall including the South Canterbury Floral Designer of the Year, Baby Buds Photo Competition, the BNZ Children’s Floral Fantasy and Timaru Patchwork ad Quilting.
