Food, shopping, plants, rose gardens, heaps of things for the kids to do and world class entertainment.

It is the icing on the cake, the feather in the cap: the Roses on the Bay Market Day truly is the grand finale of the Timaru Festival of Roses.

Every year thousands of people descend on Caroline Bay for this feast for the senses. Colour and interesting sights, music, enticing aromas, delicious tastes and a festive, friendly atmosphere.

What makes the Market Day so special is its blend of the ever-popular favourites and exciting and innovative additions. Stall holders vie for a gorgeous trophy awarded to the Best Dressed Stall that fits with out International Christmas market theme.  There are always fresh arrivals, a choice new plant or an original gift idea.

Plants are always in plentiful supply as are crafts from all over New Zealand and beyond, along with gourmet food and garden accessories – from outdoor art to furniture.

The Soundshell stage will feature live free music and entertainment.

The TImaru Santa Parade will end at the market day

Entry to the Market Day is free and you can also visit the exceptional Festival exhibitions in the Caroline Bay Hall.

Introducing your 2024 Performers

We’re thrilled to announce that the incredibly talented Jackie Bristow will be headlining this year’s Festival of Roses Market Day on Sunday, 1st December at Caroline Bay! 🎤✨
Jackie Bristow acclaimed singer-songwriter  blends soulful storytelling with a timeless sound that resonates, she has an outstanding body of work and is currently working on 6th Studio Album.
Her songs have been widely featured with notable placements in film and television such as Euphoria (HBO), Young Sheldon (CBS), Home and Away (Seven Network, Australia), The Secret Life of Us (Ten Network, Australia), The Brokenwood Mysteries, (Prime), The Way Home (Hallmark) , Paper Girls, (Amazon Prime) and Kevin Can F**K Himself * (AMC). 

Jackie has toured extensively worldwide and has as opened for iconic artists such as Bonnie Raitt, Chris Isaak, Boz Scaggs, Foreigner, The Steve Miller Band, Marc Cohn, Art Garfunkel, Tommy Emmanuel, John Oates, John Waite, and Madeleine Peyroux and many others.

ACE - a vibrant pop/rock band is a fresh new sound on the Timaru music scene.  Comprising of four talented High School students: Ruby Jackson, Natalie Holland, Neve Gaffaney and Charlotte Munro, they have been playing together for 3 years, performing a mixture of originals and covers. In 2023 they were second in the Regional Rockquest finals.

Together, Kayla and Sarah live in Timaru writing and performing as The Songsmiths. Having recently released two singles to the market The Songsmiths are looking forward to playing live in their home town - playing a mix of reimagined new and classic acoustic songs.

Kayla is a multi-instrumentalist specialising in all things with strings.
As a songwriter and producer Kayla grew up playing music in Christchurch, and from a young age was heavily involved with various live acts in the New Zealand music community, and continues to work with musicians and acts around the country. She currently offers professional musician services including music production, live session work, tutoring and session tracks.

Sarah is an award-winning singer and songwriter, MLT Songwriting and Gold
Guitar award finalist. Sarah also won the DAG Songwriting Scholarship (Australia) sponsored by APRA and was a NZ Horizon Award Nominee. Sarah grew up in Dunedin, singing opera before being introduced to guitar which sparked a love of country music and songwriting.

Popular Christchurch duo "Natural Magic" are pirate puppeteers who love to entertain children with a menagerie of talking animals who live in their magic box: a chestful of treasures discovered on the faraway pirate island of Madagadabadabada. Humour; participation; songs... lots of fun! Perfect for children of all ages.

SATURDAY EVENING SHOW ENTERTAINMENT:

Amelia Luxton is an NZ multi award winning singer songwriter, based in Geraldine.  Music tutor, and graduate of the Australian academy of country music 2017. She writes and plays country folk blues from all eras, playing for wedding ceremonies, events, markets, private parties and restaurants/bars over Canterbury.
